Task 8

From my pie chart results i found that there are more females in my class than males therefore my magazine should not only be targeted for a male audience as the second most favourite magazines in my class are Gossip magazines which are targeted for a female audience. I also found that over 50% people said that Horror was their favourite genre of magazine, from this i decided to apply a Horror them to my own magazine to attract more readers. 100% people stated that they would not be wiling to pay over £5 for the magazine so i would have to produce at a low price point so i can sell it at a low price point aswell.

Task 3

Task 2

My film magazine will be a horror themed magazine which will feature exclusive interviews with 'Zombie Boy' an actor and model who had his face and body tattooed to look like a zombie skeleton, he is the face of horror when it comes to humans. It will also feature sneak peeks and hand written trailers on upcoming movies. There will also 2 pages covering the top 10 movies of 2018, ranked from the best being number 1, this will be very interesting to the readers as they want to see what films have the highest rating in 2018 so they can watch it for themselves as they year comes to close.

Task 5

"I am the face of horror and i love it..."

Rick “Zombie Boy” Genest has led an unconventional life, to say the least. We caught up with the actor and model to talk about his life now that he is in the spotlight.

Since you have become famous, have people’s reactions to you on the street changed?
Well, first some things stayed the same. My life style was already nomadic, living out of my backpack; working odd jobs, meeting cool people, as well as often  being stopped and photographed. This hasn’t changed. What changed was the masses’ reaction to me. Prior, I had my place amongst those who understood me and had the luxury of privacy. Now I often feel that every walk of life either has a question or an opinion about the way I breathe air – although I do seize this opportunity to raise awareness for tolerance, acceptance and embracing our differences.
What’s the philosophy behind your tattoos?
The zombie concept is also often used as a metaphor for runaway consumerism. Rebelling from this notion is the very meaning of punk. The origins of the zombie creature came about from stories of people being buried alive in times of plagues and such crises; that would come out the other side ‘transformed’. Zombies, to many, represent a pervasive xenophobia. As in my life, I was often out-casted, hated or misunderstood.
What would be your ideal film role?
I’ve had a chance to play as a punk rocker, a carnie and a pirate. My ideal film role yet would be as a deranged psycho in a horror picture.
Are you planning on any more tattoos?
I’m still working on my tattoo project. As well as finishing my bodysuit, I soon wish to sharpen my teeth, with likeness to those of a reptile.

Task 6

Initial Research For A New Film Magazine

What does the cover look like?
The front of the magazine has a background colour of metallic silver which attracts the readers attention due to the brightness of the colour, it also makes the writing around it stand out more which helps when they are trying to promote other aspects of their magazine. The fonts used on the cover are very large and bold which makes it clearer for the reader to understand and helps for the magazine to get their message across.

What is featured on the cover page?
The cover features a women holding a sword which fits into the action style of what the magazine is promoting, she is taking up a large amount of the cover to a point where the 'EMPIRE' isn't visible to show how powerful she is, this tells the reader that this magazine is action packed and is different from the other film magazines. The price of the magazine is also featured in very small writing so the reader focuses away from the price and thinks more about the positives of the magazine.

Does it have a centre page spread?
The magazine features a centre page spread for movies that are receiving more attention in the media because they know readers are more interested in these movies than any other and want to receive as much information on them as much as they can. This helps Empire to sell more issues than any other film magazine.

Does it have interviews?
The magazine features interviews with relevant film stars who are in upcoming movies which gives the reader an edge into finding out what type of actors will be featured in the film way before the film is released, this makes the reader want to purchase the magazine to be able to gain more knowledge about the film and receive an exclusive insight on the film which other magazines don't offer.

Contests for readers?
The magazine offers readers the opportunity to take part in giveaways and contests where they can win prizes. On page 6 there is a voucher which the reader is able to use at their local Vue for a 20% discount on any movie of their choice. This is a great way to interest readers into buying this magazine as it applies to the topic of Film which the magazine is based on. Also, on page 8 theres a contest which readers can enter for a shot at winning a brand new movie projector alongside a 6 month prepaid membership for Netflix.

Film reviews?

The magazine is based on film reviews on movies that are both new and old, this helps them to reach every target audience, as some people may enjoy watching new movies whereas others are into classics. Alongside a review they interview different actors from each movie which provides for a more detailed look into the film which readers will be interested in. Due to Empire's large amount of staff they are able to fit more than 30 film reviews in each issue which makes them stand out from other film magazines as other film magazines aren't able to keep up, this helps them to reach the top of the film magazine market and become the bestselling film magazine every week.
